4/1 Crabwood Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, now private residence. Early C18 altered C19 and C20. Chequer-
work brick, slate roof. 3 bay, 2 storey and attic on cellar, outshot to
rear with C19 wing to rear at left and C20 single storey porch of older
materials on left end. Central C19 cambered pent-roofed porch with 6-panel
double doors. Plinth to original house and 1st floor string. Tripartite
sashes with rubbed brick heads except for C19 12-pane sash above porch. Boxed
timber eaves gutter and 2 C19 flat roofed 2-light dormers. C20 parapeted
porch with 4-panel door and round fanlight to left end. Inside in centre
full height early C18 oak staircase with moulded handrail, turned balusters
and square-sectioned newels. Contemporary doors, beams, cupboards and large
fireplace in room to right with smoking chamber above.
