WEYMOUTH
SY6779SE PARK STREET
873-1/20/247 (East side)
14/06/74 Nos.62, 64 AND 66
GV II
3 houses in row. c1820-1840. Rendered, or painted brickwork
(No.66), slate roofs. These are typical small houses of the
period in Weymouth; the group returns at the N end to Albert
Street, and at the S end to Clifton Place. The centre unit is
wider, and may originally have been 2 properties.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; No.62 has a very large
full-width C20 dormer above an 8:12:8-pane sash bow oriel and,
to the right, a 12-pane sash in reveals. Central door in late
C19 shop front with shallow fascia and cornice.
No.64 has 2 wide-spaced 2-light casement flat-roofed dormers
above 2 oriels as No.62, and a full-width C19 shop front with
recessed central door flanked by 2-pane display windows under
transom lights, and a further glazed door, far left, all under
a deep fascia with end consoles.
No.66 has a small flat-roofed dormer with replacement light
above an oriel and 12-pane sash as No.62. Ground floor has a
C20 multi-pane shop front, and a pair of glazed doors under a
shallow 2-pane transom light. A deep plain fascia runs full
width, within consoles, and embracing the apron of the oriel.
There are 3 deep ridge stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The centre unit is the best retained in this group; the
presentation of No.62 has been considerably altered by the
very heavy-looking top addition, but the group, together with
Nos 68-70 (qv) remains of interest in this small-scale street.
