Pair of adjoining cottages. Probably C18. Colour-washed and rendered, probably cob
and stone rubble; thatched roof gabled at ends; end stacks with brick shafts.
2 cottages, No. 5 (to the right) is double depth, 2 room in plan, No. 4 is probably
the same.
2 storeys. Approximately symmetrical 1 + 1 window front to the range with front
doors in the centre. Ground floor window left, 2-light casement, 3 panes per light,
similar first floor window. Alterations to No. 5 in progress at time of survey
(1986) but fenestration appears to be 2 and 3-light casements, 3 panes per light.
Interior: No. 5 has been modernized. Interior of no. 6 not inspected.
The row of houses known as The College stands in a raised pavement above Fordland
Brook and nos. 5 and 6 are part of this picturesque group.
