SX 86 NE KINGSKERSWELL HUXNOR ROAD, Kingskerswell
3/172 Congregational Chapel
- including wall and gate
piers to north

Congregational Chapel. Circa 1850-60. Coursed limestone rubble walls battered at
the bottom with chamfered plaster quoins and Bath stone dressings. Steep pitched
tarred slate roof. Rubble stack axial to the 2 blocks.
Parallel block plan with Chapel in larger front block and possibly school room
behind.
Single storey. Symmetrical 5-window front of 2 tall lancet windows with cusped
heads under steep gables; alternating with them are three 2-light windows with ogee
heads. At right-hand gable end is a steep gabled porch with trefoil light at side.
2 centred arched doorway with chamfered surround and quatrefoil above. Lower
parallel block at rear.
Interior in accessible at time of survey.
To include contemporary low limestone rubble wall adjoining right-hand gable end
with iron railing above. Square gate piers at right-hand end have chamfered quoins
and double chamfered capping with small finial. Chamfered plinth and wrought iron
gate similar to railings.
