3 adjoining cottages. C17 or earlier. Plastered cob and stone; the main range has
end stacks with brick shafts and a rear lateral stack in the centre.
Plan: single depth plan with a larger double-fronted cottage in the centre flanked by
smaller cottages to left and right, each with front doors towards the centre.
Evidence of the C17 plan with a large hall to the left of a cross passage, a smaller
room to the right, the extreme right end room probably a later addition.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 1:2:1 window front with 2 additional windows. The
left hand and centre cottages have C19 plank and cover strip front doors, the right
hand cottage has a later panelled front door. Set of late C18 or C19 small pane
sliding sashes, except for one to the right of the front door of No. 2 which is a C17
timber mullioned window with chamfered mullions and one additional C20 window to the first floor of No 3.
Interior: 2 chamfered step-stopped cross beams to the 2 left hand rooms, rough axial
beam to right hand room. Fireplaces rebuilt.
Group value with other thatched houses and the Old Estate Office.
