SY 09 NW BROADCLYST

Cottage. Late C17. Cob, stone plinth, rendered under hipped thatched roof. 2 room
plan, 2 storeys with rear C19 extension (stone with gabled-end slate roof), and
lean-to at right-hand end.
Front: Slightly asymmetrical 2 window range; off centre doorway under slate-roofed
porch with a 2-light window to each side; upper windows under boarded gables in
thatch. Casements, timber and all C20. The left-hand side elevation with large
external stack and bake-oven bulge.
Interior: ground floor rooms with chamfered beam and (in the left-hand room) a
large but unadorned fireplace.
Roof: (apex carpentry not accessible), exposed purlins and one truss, the collar,
chamfered, halved into principal. (A second collar and upright support have been
added).
