10/96 Mountjoy monument in churchyard,
about 21.5m south of east end of
chancel, Church of St. Ethelbert

GV II

Pedestal tomb; early C19; ashlar stone. Flat lid with moulded
edge; above, set back, a short step and small cavetto moulding,
corners cut away square. Above a square dome with reeded sides
fanning out from little apex pyramid. Fluted frieze below lid;
recessed corners to sides, square-edged raised oval panel for
lettering, with leaves and fruit carved in upper spandrels.
Moulded top to plinth. Whole set on wide square stone base. To
Anthony Mountjoy, died 1808; one illegible inscription and one,
died 1813.
