House, now 2 houses. C16 or earlier gabled crosswing, W range
rebuilt c1700, SE wing later. Timber frame plastered with steep
thatched roofs. W gable end cased in plastered brick. SE wing
of plastered brick with hipped roof. An older 2-storeys
crosswing incorporated into a higher 2-storeys, central-chimney,
lobby-entry plan house facing N, with half-hipped W gable.
Crosswing and SE wing later separated as another house
(Shipwrights) with a small porch added to the front of the gabled
wing. Large external E side chimney serves crosswing, with a 3-
light flush casement front window to each floor on N gable. 2
windows to each floor of W range. 3-light flush casement
windows. Half-glazed central door under a gabled porch on
posts. Open fireplace and heavy joists to crosswing, possibly
originally jettied to front.
