SX 48 SE BRENTOR

7/31 Gateway about 7m east of Langstone
- Manor

GV II


Gateway to rear of Langstone Manor. May be early C17 in origin but probably
reconstructed in 1907, contemporary with the rebuilding of Langstone Manor. Dressed
stone brought to course and granite. Granite gateway of moulded piers of rectangular
section with capitals supporting moulded basket arch with projecting keystone.
Moulded string course and embattled parapet above. Monograms carved in spandrel of
arch may be later additions.
