Renton Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Reputed to be 1822 build. Rubble, slate-hung front, slate roof to
gable stacks and box eaves. Symmetrical front to central hall; at left end is
lean-to stable with roof pitching up to level of eaves. Two storeys, 3 windows;
12-pane sashes, two of these original, but ground floor right has 1985 four-
pane. Central fielded 6-panel door in panelled reveals under a fully glazed
gabled C19 porch with margin bars. Central stick stair with mahogany handrail;
ground floor retains mainly original panelled doors. The attached stable
building has loft above. A handsome early C19 farmhouse, still in use as such
(1986) and little modified. It is accompanied by a good courtyard of farm-
buildings (qv).
