A lost inscription read 'Of your charitie pray for the soule of Sir Anthony Fitzherbert, Knight, one of the King's Justices of the Common Bench and sometyme Lord and patron of this towen and Dorithie his wyfe, daughter of Sir Henry Willoughby, Knight, and Dame Mawde, his last wyfe, one of the daughters and heiress of Richard Coton, of Hamstall Ridware, Esquier, by which he had fyve sonnes and fyve daughters, which Sir Anthony deceased the 27 of May Adni 1538 and the said Mawde…'
