Three cottages, probably C17 or even earlier in origin but have been much
re-built and altered. Three 2-storey stone rubble fronts. That to the
South is a 2-storey 2-window Cottage front adjoining the Almshouses (Map
No 1/2). Two upper casements retain lead glazing. Central building has
gable end to Close with C18 3-light sash window to ground floor and paired
sash with altered glazing barsabove. It is connected to the building on
the North by a stone wall in which is a doorway with 3-centred head. This
last building has a plain tile roof and a paired sash window to each floor.
Central cottage also with plaintile roof and South cottage with stone
slate roof.

All the listed buildings in Abbey Close form a group with the east end
of No 1 Finger Lane.
