SP 81 NE WINGRAVE WITH ROWSHAM CRAFTON

House. C16, altered C17 and later. Timber frame, mostly concealed.
E. side of rear wing has some exposed close studding with slanted
thin brick infill to first floor. Remainder refaced in brick at
various dates, the upper right bay tile-hung. Old tile roof. Square
chimneystack of thin brick between right bays, inserted C17. T-plan,
2 storeys, S. front of 3 irregular bays, the left bay slightly set back.
5 irregular barred wooden casements to first floor. Ground floor has
C20 window to left, wide tripartite barred sash with segmental head
to centre, and pair of later C19 sashes to right. Flush-panelled door
between right bays has gabled wooden hood on shaped brackets. Sun
fire insurance plaque above. Early C20 extensions to rear. Interior:
ground floor central room has chamfered cross beams, one with the N.
end stopped on chamfered post with bracket carved into the jowl.
Ground floor room in rear wing has moulded beam.
