ALDWORTH HUNGERFORD GREEN.

10/8 Yew Tree thatch

Cottage. Early C17 with late C17, C19 and C20 additions. Timber
frame with brick infill and some weatherboarding, hipped thatched
roof. Three bays running north to south, the centre bay being the
original cottage and the outer bays extensions, outshut to west.
One and a half storeys; 2-light dormers with thatch swept round in
centre on east; ridge chimney to north of central bay. East-Elevation:-
irregular, two single-light casements to left bay, 2-light casement to
right of centre bay and in right bay, boarded door to left of centre
bay. Interior:- large fireplace with bread oven, hearth oven, spit
rack and pot jack. Included partly for socio-historical reasons
as a rare and little altered survival of a one bay cottage.
