Description

HEWELSFIELD GENERAL
SO 50 SE
6/43 Barn attached to
north-west corner
of Hewelsfield Court
GV II
Farmhouse, later barn. C17. Rendered sandstone, slate roof. 2½ storeys.
2 windows, 2-light stone reserved-chamfer mullioned casements, one 3-light
at ground floor with one mullion missing, and a large opening right. Outer
gable end has 2-light blocked opening over flight of 9 steep stone steps externally
to an opening, and far long wall includes stable door under a section of wall
cl.5m wide projecting cl50mm on 3 stone corbels. A 5-bay structure with slightly
arched collars, some deep chamfered beams. Connected to house by eaves-height
wall. This appears to be the remains of either the original farmhouse or part
of it, and at time of survey, November 1983, was abandoned and in very poor
condition.
