Detached barn. C18. Roughly coursed sandstone, corrugated asbestos cement
roof. A 5 bay barn with deep projecting cart entry to east, towards the house,
and a return arm, separately constructed and open at the house end, on the
north end, forming an L. Main barn has large cart opening with slightly cambered
arch with voussoirs and key over a wood lintol, and a row of holes c800mm square
over ventilation slots; the cart porch has roof lower than main ridge , and
old plank doors to a wood lintol. Collar and tie 2-purlin strutted roof.
Return arm is 3-bay with large rectangular loading opening in the gable at the
church end, various ventilation slots and patched openings to the upper level.
This barn is connected to the earlier barn, formerly house (qv) by an eaves-height
wall, providing a forecourt to Hewelsfield Court (qv).
