TL 74 SW ASHEN THE STREET, East Side
1/6 Rose Cottage

GV II

Cottage, C18, extended in C20. Timber framed, roughcast rendered, roof
thatched. 2 bays aligned approx. N-S with near-central chimney stack, aspect
W. Flat-roofed single-storey extension to rear of S end, C20. Single storey
with attics. 4-panel door with upper panels glazed, 2 C20 casement windows,
one C19 casement window is slated lean-to dormer. Gambrel roof. The interior
has chamfered axial beams, a wood-burning hearth facing S and a modern grate
facing N, some exposed framing. Roman numerals inscribed on wallplates. The
owners have deeds from 1703.
