Description

ST BRIAVELS B4228
SO 50 SE
(east side)
6/132 Stable block c 50 metres
west of Aylesmore Court
GV II
Stable block, now general storage. Early C19. Rendered, stone slate hipped roof
with small central slated turret. Two storeys, 5-windowed, 2-light wood mullioned
casements with saddle-bars and to segmental heads, over 5-bay blind segmental-headed
arcade with dividing pilasters to a plinth, containing four 16-pane sashes to
segmental heads and central plank doors to 10-pane transom light; to the right the
ground floor is open and a flight of stone steps gives access to the upper floor
through a central door. Inside there are some of the original stalls in the centre
section. This was a fine formal composition as built and still has most of the
original detail; it is significant as a group with Aylesmore Court (qv).
