The most famous marriage to have taken place in St. Andrew's was between Olaudah Equiano (The African) and Susannah Cullen. Slavery was still in force and Olaudah had gained his freedom and become an activist for the abolition of slavery in C18th. They had two daughters, both born in Soham and baptised in St. Andrew's.
