C16 house. Coursed stone rubble with steeply pitched modern pantile roof.
Two storeys and attic. Five bays. Asymmetrical H-shaped plan, with projecting
gabled wings, right hand wing only slightly projects, and with 2 storeyed gabled
porch off centre with moulded Tudor arched doorway with cornice. Moulded stone
window frames, some with mullions intact and with cornices. Right hand wing
has 3-light wood mullion window with leaded panes. Fielded panel door.
At rear wings project, and a massive external stack off centre with set-offs.
Ashlar stacks with cornices. Moulded stone coping to gables.
Interior: C17 dog-leg staircase with moulded balusters and square newels rising
through 3 floors. Wide fireplace in hall with cambered timber bressumer, chamfered
and with chamfered stone jambs. South wing has 4 moulded stone chimney pieces
with Tudor arches or flat heads. NMR and VCH Vol II page 486, illustrated.
