Churchyard boundary wall. Circa 1860. Local gault brick. A large irregular enclosure.
Wall on south side is plain but to Church Street, Abbey Place, the rear of Cheriton
House and partly to Thorney Park has a plinth with weathered brick offset cap and
weathered brick coping, also a horizontal band of recesses of cross form in the upper
part. The wall has a splayed junction at the corner of Church Street and Abbey on
which is fixed a large stone C18 tombstone with two inscription panels in moulded
arched frames with carving above including cherubs heads. Another panel of carved
stone set above tombstone in a merlon. Churchyard wall listed for group value with
Church of St Mary and St Botolph (Thorney Abbey) (q.v.).
