Railing to rear of
St James's Church

Railings. Early to mid C19, probably designed by G G Scott who designed St
James's Church. Iron and ashlar. Straight length of railing, approximately
40 metres long. Dwarf wall with chamfered stone copings. Railings have square
sectioned bars with large cusped finials with pierced quatrefoils which form
a frieze to the top. Some sections of railings have been replaced by C20
railings. Part of the large compex of buildings financed by Great Northern
Railway for its workers. Included for group value.
