Online sources disagree whether it's 'Swithen', 'Swithin' or 'Swithun' Anderton.
This image of the main panel on the memorial itself confirms that it is 'Swithin' as in St. Swithin's Day.
The text on the monument panel reads:-
Swithin Anderton, J.P. of Bradford, Born 1803, Died 1860. Also of Ann, his wife Born 1800, Died 1852 John Braithwaite, their son Born 1826, Died 1852. Samuel Blakey, their eldest son Born 1824, Died 1874. Edwin, their youngest son Born 1833, Died 1889. |
