- weir in Bretton Park

Bridge and weir. Probably built between 1777 and 1782, the dates of the
Upper and Lower Lakes, for Sir Thomas Wentworth. Ashlar. A flat span on
short stone piers between which the water flows. Above a string course is a
series of sunk panels separated by more piers. The iron railings are
probably late C19, plain rails with intermediate panels of geometric design
with small urn-like finials. At the north end the railings curve round to
terminate at small, square, ashlar piers.
The weir is closely stepped in the centre and curves around, at each end, in
deeper steps.
