2/4 Woodworth Green Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, early C17 but of early C19 appearance. Red brick with
slate roof. 2 storey, 2-bay garden front (West) and 2-bay entrance
front, including gable (north) "F" shaped plan. Sandstone plinth.
Boarded doors in modern added porches. Flush casements with segmental
arches at ground floor level. The gables have barge boards.
Interior: Wide boarded doors. Carved inglenook beam, based on
channels and ribs with billets. Ovolo moulded and bevelled beams,
exposed ceiling joists. A wide staircase, said to be from Betton
Hall, Shropshire, has treads and risers inlaid in Walnut, Mahogany and
Sycamore, a turned newel, moulded handrail, wrought iron balustrade,
planted apron mould and spandrel panelling.
