Chancel Arch

Uploader's Comments

The early C13 pointed chancel arch is of two chamfered orders without hood mould, the inner order springing from half-round responds with fillet on the face and moulded capitals and bases. The abaci are square and form the impost of the chamfered jambs of the outer order. The circular moulded bases stand on a square plinth. The opening is 14 ft. 4 in. wide, and the floor of the chancel is four steps above that of the nave.
