10 August 1978 House

GV II

Public house, early C18 in origin but of mid C19 appearance. Brown
brick in Flemish Bond with tile roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays with C19
double pile wings (west). Sandstone plinth,3-course deep brick first
floor band. Mullion windows with three-light casements under cambered
arches. Six-panel entrance door, with rectangular transome light,
fronted by projecting porch with pair of half glazed,
diminished-stile, doors with lower panels fielded. The porch has a
pitched roof. Overhanging gable verges with shaped purlin ends and
apex finials, gabel end stacks.
Interior: Early C18 style chamfered beams and exposed ceiling joists.
