Late C18 or early Cl9 house with large later C19 additions. Original rectangular
block with service wing. Pinkish brick with stone plinth and first floor band, cor-
nice and blocking course. Hipped Welsh slate roof. In front a projecting link
to a large, stone porte-cochere of late C19 with neo-baroque treatment. Further
extensions to left of similar date. Wrapped around the right hand corner a larger
conservatory of circa 1900 added by Ropner Shipping Company. A pent link from
house to a large domed glass pavilion with half-decagonal bows on three sides hav-
ing hipped roofs. Arcaded walls with radial leaded heads, cast iron pilasters be-
tween glazed panels. Garden front of original house shows large, three-window
rounded bow. Sash windows with glazing bars under gauged brick arches. Six-window
service wing runs to right. Lavish, later C19 interiors.
