2 shops with flats above; formerly an inn. C17 altered and
extended in C18 and C19. Timber framed and plastered with mock
timbering on main elevations. Main ranges roofed with hand made
red plain tiles. Rear ranges roofed in slate. 2 internal square
brick stacks rising in the 2 outer roof valleys 4 parallel wings
end on to Little Square, each 2 bays deep. 2 rear 2-storey out-
shuts running east to various 2 and 3-storey timber frame and
brick outbuildings now used as shops with storage fronting onto
Drury Lane. 2 storeys with attics. Ground floor late C19 shop-
front extends across entire frontage subdivided into 4 bays by
pilasters with tripartite glazing. Splayed entrance doorways at
each end with glazed C20 doors. First floor C19 sash windows. 2
right hand gables have larger frames and sashes with central
glazing bars, wide surrounds and simple flat pediments above.
Beneath 2 left hand gables the sashes are smaller and multi-
paned. 2 left hand attics have small altered C19 sashes. The shop
front carries round onto each return elevation with various
multi-paned sashes at first floor level. On rear elevation one
gable has horizontal sliding sash window to attic with 2 twelve
pane lights. Internally bridging joists have chamfers with lambs
tongue stops. First floor front room in right hand half of
building has a raised ceiling to form a larger former assembly
room. C19 internal features include grates, dado rail and doors.
In C19 the building was known as "Lion and Lamb" Inn.
