Lodge to Morval Estate. Circa mid C19. Stone rubble with original banded slate roof
with gable end on right and splayed gable end to front projecting gabled wing on
left; trefoil decorated bargeboards to splayed gable end and above gabled half-dormer
on right. Rear lateral rendered brick chimney stack to room on right and rendered
brick axial chimney stack on left-hand side of passage.
Probably a 2- or 3-room plan: 1 room to right of entrance and 1 or 2 rooms in
crosswind to left of entrance; on the front of the cross wing a verandah which
continues to right as a porch over the doorway and to left forming a covered way to a
lean-to outshut on left end.
1 storey and attic and 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window range. The 1 storey and
attic, 1-window range to right has small gabled half-dormer and doorway to left in
angle with the higher 2-storey cross wing to left with splayed gabled front with
slated verandah on square granite posts with chamfered corners. The verandah
continues to form porches the main doorway to right and outshut doorway to left with
cobbled pavement below. Ground floor with C20 door to outshut on left, circular
window and C19 3-light casement in gable end, C20 plank entrance door in angle and
C19 2-light casement to right with moulded frame and hoodmould.
First floor with C19 2-light casement with moulded frame and hoodmould in gable end
on left and triangular headed probably C19 casement to right in C19 gabled half-
dormer with decorative, trefoil ornamented bargeboards.
Interior not inspected.
