SX 45 SE MAKER-WITH-RAME CREMYLL

7/98 Cremyll House

GV II

House. Circa 1780, with slightly later addition to right, mid C19 rear service wing.
Rendered and lined out, slate roof with brick gable end stacks; C19 building to rear
in brick.
Double depth plan with central entrance to passage between 2 principal front rooms
and stair to rear left of passage; small 2-storey C19 service wing to rear right.
2 storeys and 3 bays, 2 storey bow to left and right with 12-pane sash to front and
8-pane sidelights at ground and first floor, vertical moulding between sashes,
central panelled double doors with inner half-glazed doors with margin glazing, with
pilasters and consoles to sides, fanlight with wooden petal pattern of glazing bars,
frieze and open pediment with modillions, dentilled inner moulding. 4-pane sash
above. Moulded frieze, fine dentil cornice. Attached to right, 2-storey addition
with C20 door and 12-pane sash at ground floor, 12-pane sash in exposed box at first
floor. Left gable end has cornice returned a short distance, C20 single storey lean-
to with hipped roof, door and window. Right side has external stone stair to upper
door in addition. Rear has 16-pane sash at ground and first floor to right and at
first floor centre. Small 2-storey service wing with two 16-pane sashes at first
floor to side, 2-light casement and half-glazed door with margin glazing at ground
floor. Rear of house has hipped dormer to right.
Interior: Central passage at ground floor has fine modillion cornice, dog-leg stair
to rear left of passage with wreathed handrail and moulded string. Ground floor room
to right has reeded cornice. First floor room said to have cornice with roses. Rest
of interior not accessible.
