- walls at SW776308 (Penwarne)

GV II

Gate-piers, gate and flanking walls to Penwarne, Mawnar parish qv. Circa early
C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Wide gateway is flanked by square-
on-plan piers adjoining concave segmental-on-plan walls linked to square-on-
plan terminal piers. Gate-piers are dressed granite monoliths with pyramidal heads; terminal piers have monolithic shafts and overhanging pyramidal caps. Segmentally-headed granite copings on the lower walls between the piers. C19 wrought-iron 5-railed gate has cross bracing linked to central name plaque inscribed: PENWARNE. Hanging stile arches over to its adjoining brace, the
other stile is scrolled at the head. Ordnance Survey bench mark on left-hand pier.
