GV II

Small farmhouse. Circa late C18 or, early C19, extended C20. Painted stuccoed front,
otherwise painted rubble and cob. Scantle slate roof sweeping lower at rear.
Rendered brick chimneys over the gable ends.
Plan: Double depth plan with large kitchen/living room on the left and small parlour
on the right; probably integral pantry behind the kitchen and later back kitchen
behind the parlour. Stair is on the right-hand side of the kitchen and there is only
a high-backed settle partly dividing the entrance lobby from the kitchen. C20
extension on the left-hand side.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 2 window south-south-east front with
approximately central doorway. C19 6-panel door. Wide kitchen window on left with
probably original 18-pane horizontally-sliding sash and smaller similar 12-pane
window over. Windows on the right are possibly original 16-pane hornless sashes.
C20 lean-to porch.
Interior: Retains many original or early C19 features including: slate flagged
floors to kitchen and rear rooms; settle facing into kitchen; beamed ceiling to
ground floor; straight flight stair; plank and muntin partition between stair and
parlour and fireplace in back kitchen.
