Steward's house for Bedford Estate, now private house. Circa mid C19. Rendered
stone rubble with raised plinth and flat string band to first floor. Rag slate roof
with hipped ends. Rendered axial and end stacks.
Plan: Central entrance with stair hall flanked by two reception rooms heated by
fireplaces on the rear wall. Kitchen in wing to rear right, heated by end stack,
forming an overall original 'L' shaped plan. Service rooms accommodated in cellar.
Extended in later C19 with wing to rear left forming an overall roughly square plan.
Exterior: Two storeys. Symmetrical 3 window front with original windows and glass.
Central C19 porch with flat roof, C19 doors and C20 windows in side walls. Flanked
by two C19 12-pane sashes. Three similar sashes above. Garden front with C19 12-
pane sashes, the glazing bars to the kitchen window removed.
Interior: Largely complete with doorcases, cornices and partitions. C19 stair with
stick balusters, wreathed and moulded mahogany rail. Chimney-pieces removed.
