Former coastguard cottages and adjoining outbuildings. Circa early C19. Painted
rubble walls with granite dressings. Principal range has grouted scantle slate
hipped roof with wide eaves carried on brackets. Large axial brick chimneys over the
cross (party) walls.
Plan: Long rectangular terrace of 3 pairs of double depth plan cottages which
originally shared a front door for each pair, and another cottage at either end.
Each cottage has a room at the front and another room at the-rear. Left-hand cottage
has an extra 1-room-plan wing set back on the left (extended on the left in the C20).
On the right are adjoining outbuildings including earth closets and former rocket
house.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Virtually symmetrical 8 window north front plus 1 window front
wing set back on the left. Cambered granite arches over ground floor openings.
Narrow doorways to middle of each pair of cottages, with original panelled doors.
Probably later doorway on the right and another doorway at right-hand side of wing.
Original 24-pane horizontally-sliding sashes except to 3 left-hand bays where
replaced by 4-pane horned sashes.
Interior not inspected.
