SOUTH COWTON
Gateway approximately 500 metres to south of Pepper Arden Hall

Gate piers, gates, railings and walls. Late C18. Ashlar and brick in header bond. Two round gate piers of ashlar with plinths, stone bands, cornices and stepped, shallow conical caps. Wrought-iron gates with spiked bars; railings to either side similar and ramped down to walls. Curved brick side walls with ashlar coping have at ends cylindrical stone podia with ball finials (that on right broken).
