Description

KINGS NYMPTON KINGS NYMPTON
Ss 61 NE
3/160 Nymet

GV II
Cottage. Probably C18 but earlier fabric may be concealed. Painted rendered stone
rubble and cob. Thatched roof with gable ends. Brick stack at left end.
Plan: Principal room to each side of entrance passage, the right-hand room is
unheated and beyond which is a narrow room at the right end. A straight-joint to the
right of the porch suggests considerable rebuilding in the C18 or early C19, and it
is possible that the cottage was at one time in 2 occupations.
Exterior: 2 storeys. 3-window range. All C20 2-light casements. Ground floor has
3-light casement 3 panes per light to left of C20 porch with gabled slate roof. One
2-light and two 3-light casements to right.
Interior: largely altered in C20. Right-hand room has rough chamfered cross ceiling
beam. Roof not inspected.
