Pair of houses in terrace. Late C17. Rubble stone, partially
limewashed, on plinth, with Cotswold stone slate roof, no stacks
visible. 2 storeys and attic. 2 gables to street with one window
to each house, 3-light stone mullion wood casements with square
hoodmoulds. Relieving arches over 1st and ground floor. Ground
floor has renewed timber casements with continuous dripmould over
windows and adjoining doors broken over door to No. 54. C20 doors
to both. No. 54 has timber lintel isolated in stonework above
doorway, No. 56 may be an inserted doorway. No. 56 includes
doorway to No. 58 (q.v.) with moulded stone architrave and panelled
door, top 2 glazed, rest fielded. Some internal beams remain in
No. 56 including a very large timber corbel block on 1st floor.
