II
House. Probably mid to later C18; enlarged and altered. Uncoursed killas rubble
with large and irregular granite quoins and dressed granite porch, slate roof and
brick chimneys. Formerly single-depth plan with addition to rear making double-
depth. Two storeys and 2 bays, almost symmetrical; the doorway offset right of
centre has a porch made of 2 monolithic granite slabs shaped at the outer ends
as square pillars with plinths, the roof formed by another slab with finely-
moulded edge like a cornice, protecting a door with round-headed panels; two
16-pane sashed windows at ground floor and 2 square 12-pane sashes above (4
panes in the upper leaf and 8 in the lower), all with exposed boxes and large
irregular quoined jambs. Two-span roof with chimneys at left gables. Interior
altered. Forms centre of attractively stepped row of 3, with Karenza set back to
left and North View projecting to the right, but is included on its own merits.
