3 estate cottages now 2 private houses and 2 flats. 1856 and 1857 bearing initials
W.L.S.T and F.C.S.T. Built for the Trelawne estate. Stone rubble with slate roofs
with shaped barge boards 3 gabled ends to front and gabled cross wing to side
elevation. Projection stone rubble lateral chimney stacks on right-hand side and
rear elevations. Further chimney stacks on gable ends. Gothic style.
2 storeys. Regular 4-window front to earlier range. Comprises 2 shallow projecting
gabled wings, flanking central range containing 2 entrances. Ground floor with 2
segmental dressed stone arches in wings with 3-light casements and ornamented lights
above. Central range with part glazed C20 door below slate lean-to canopy on
corbelled brackets to left. Stone rubble porch adjoining on right with half-hipped
slate roof with 2-centred chamfered granite arch and glazed door within. Datestone
above left-hand entrance. First floor with two 3-light casements beneath slate hoods
on corbelled brackets in gabled ends of projecting wings. Attic lights above with
trefoil on left and slit on right. Central range with 2 C19 2-light central opening
casements. Slightly later range on left comprises further slightly canted gable end
to road with 2-light casement with dressed stone arch on ground floor and 2-light
casement above below slate hood on corbelled brackets. 3-window regular side
elevation with projecting gabled wing on left. Entrance in lean-to porch in angle.
Interior not inspected.
Barcelona cottages are almost complete with unaltered fenestration on the front and
left-hand side elevations.
