House. Early C17, 1712 and C19. Timber framed plaster rendered and modern
tiles to original roof. C18 ridge and end stack and C17 stack to south end of
crosswing. Diagonally set shafts on rectangular base. Hall and east
crosswing plan. Two storeys. Main range has two first floor flush frame hung
sashes and two ground floor similar windows on either side of doorway.
Pilastered doorcase of early C19 with flat hood and six panelled door.
Crosswing of two storeys, originally jettied at first floor, now underbuilt.
One similar hung sash to each storey. At first floor a lead roundel with
initials MSIS 1712 and butchers trade signs (similar in style to that at east
gable end of Cock Inn qv). The crosswing is cellared. The house was probably
renovated by Mary and John Smith, married 1711. John Smith was a collar
maker.
