Description

MODBURY -
SX 65 SE
2/114
Outbuilding c.50 metres
26.1.67 south of Yarnicombe
Farmhouse

GV II

Farm outbuilding. C18. Coursed rubble, some slate hanging, slate roof. An
interesting 2-storey building with hipped roof and a series of openings or
blocked openings with voussoirs and keystones; at the ground floor the left end
is part blocked by a lean-to, not of special interest, has wide central opening
to voussoirs with pair of plank doors; to its right a sash in part-blocked
opening and a further door. At first floor were seven openings, all blocked
except numbers 2 and 6, which are blocked in part by wood shutters. Plain
string course. Interior not inspected. The building was either some form of
domestic premises, or built as a farm building at the same time as the farmhouse
(qv), reflecting its general detailing.
