SO 8803-8903 CHALFORD CHALFORD HILL

10/20 The Cottage

GV II

Formerly 2 houses, now detached house. Late C17, further house
attached mid C18. Random rubble limestone; part rebuilt ashlar
chimneys; concrete tile roof. Two-storey with attic, later
addition forming L-plan. Front: gable end of earlier part to
right with single-window fenestration, original 2-light chamfered
mullioned casements to upper floor and attic, altered window to
ground floor. Two-window fenestration to later building to left,
all 2-light chamfered mullioned casements, one altered by addition
of C20 gabled porch. Rear: projecting gable end chimney stack
with rebuilt shaft to earlier part. Interior not inspected.
Backs onto Silver Street, forming group with items on north side
(q.v.).
