Pair of attached houses. c1855. By William Butterfield as part of the
Estate for Viscount Downe of Baldersby Park. Red brick, English bond,
C20 tile roof. High Victorian style. One and a half storeys with
1-storey bay to right, irregular fenestration. Entrance to No 3 to
left: C20 plank door in porch with hipped roof and corner buttresses.
Ground floor: two 3-light wooden casements with glazing bars under
segmental brick arches. 2-light casement to left of porch. First
floor: 2 tall windows rise as half-hipped dormers. Central stack
straddles ridge and is stepped, with tumbled-in brickwork. A narrow
chimney against right gable. The left end (above small window) raised
from 1 to one and a half storeys c1960. Right return - door to No 4 of
vertical boards with beading and strap hinges, appears original.
