House, now 2 dwellings and hairdresser's shop. C17 with later rear extension and alterations, including C20 shop-front to left. Coursed rubble; brick shop-front; pantile roof; brick stacks. 2-cell, 2-storey main range, with slightly projecting 2-storey-and-attic cross gables. 3 wings added to rear. Shop-front to left. Rusticated quoins to left. 6-panel door to right of main range under fanlight with Gothick glazing, in mid C18 pilastered, open-pedimented doorcase. C19 canted bay to left. 3-light horizontal sliding sash to ground floor of right cross gable. Similar sliding sashes to first floor, and 2 light horizontal sliding sashes in cross gable attics. Plain barge boards to both gables. 2 end, and one left of centre stacks. C20 plaque recording the death of the Duke of Buckingham in the house in 1687. Interior: mid C18 dogleg staircase, in rear outshut, with turned balusters and fluted newel posts at the foot. C18 dado panelling and some C18 6-panel doors to ground floor rooms of Buckingham House. Some re-used C17 doors and panelling to first floor rooms in Buckingham House. The roof survives largely intact, and consists of 4 trusses with cambered collars and tie beams. Paired rafters have short straight collars, halved in. The cross gables were formed by the insertion of a purlin across the bay, the rafter being sawn off to allow access to gable roof space. Late C18 cast-iron railings with urn finials to front and side.
