Lloyds Bank

A Grade II* Listed Building in Bristol, City of Bristol

LLoyds Bank as originally built

Uploader's Comments

The West of England and South Wales District Banking Company purchased the Old Bush Inn in 1854 for £10000. Here they built their new banking house for £40000 which they moved into in 1857. The bank was liquidated in 1887.
The picture illustrates the bank at that time. Since then, an additional window bay appears to have been added to the left where a new entrance was constructed while the previous entrance was infilled to match the surrounding construction. The matching up of the newer parts blend in perfectly - the only noticeable difference is the less weathered stonework of the additional bay.
