House, now flats. c1775, altered C19. Sandstone ashlar with
ashlar dressings. Slate roof and gable stacks. 2 storeys above
a basement expressed as a plinth and below an eaves cornice
with a balustrade. 4 bays with chamfered quoins. The third bay
projects slightly as a panel containing the first-floor window
and a doorway with plain surround below: these possibly
inserted into an earlier loading slot. The other windows have
moulded architraves and all have 12-pane sashes. To the left
of the door an original window has been converted into a door,
and to the left again is a lintelled waggon entrance, to the
right of which is a 3-stepped mounting block.
HISTORY: built by a timber importer who supplied mahogany to
Gillow.
