SW62NW PENROSE HILL 631-1/1/208 Carpenter's shop 100 metres south-west of Penrose Manor House

GV II

Carpenter's shop. Pre-1833. For John Rogers. Killas rubble with granite lintels over 3 openings; grouted scantle slate roof; brick stack on left; slate verges and weather-boarded gables with ladder doors, slatted gates and rollers. Single storey; regular 6-window range. Original horizontal-sliding sashes with vertical glazing bars and random panes. C20 timber store with low-pitched lean-to roof low down in front. Rear has wide window, with 3 fixed lights and similar details to front windows, on the right and central 2-light window with 6-pane light on its left and rare window type with horizontal glazing bars and some random leaded panes on its right. INTERIOR: shouldered, tenoned king-post roof structure, a 2-panel door with H hinges, a shallow round-arched keeping place, the remains of a pot-bellied stove and counter-balanced loft ladder.
