Group of four mid C18 headstones to
south of Church of St Andrew

GV II

4 headstones approx 17m S and SW of transept of Church of St
Andrew (qv). Mid C18. (i) approx 9m S of transept. To John
Adamson of Shildon, d.1757. Slab approx 0.5m high, with shaped
top. (ii) approx 5m S of (i). To Stephen Wright of Byers
Green, d.173-. Slab approx 0.5m high with bracket top. Large
letters. (iii) approx 4m SE of (i). To Mary Wilkinson d.1737.
Slab approx 0.5m high with elaborately shaped top and spirals
carved in head. (iv) approx 5m ESE of (i). Slab approx 0.5m
high, to a child, with tooled sides and richly-carved cherub's
head on reverse.
