War Memorial to north of Church of
St Andrew

GV II

War memorial approx 20m S of N lych gate at Church of St
Andrew (qv). c1920. To 1914-1918 war. Ashlar. Curb and piers
around 3-stepped square base of tall tapered cross in Saxon
style, imitating C8/C9 cross fragments within Church of St
Andrew, with interlace and inhabited vine scroll. Cross head
has boss and armpits, and roll-ended arms. Long lists of names
of dead, many of Durham Light Infantry, on stepped base.
